Interviewed by Izan & answered by Xul WHICH BAND OR PERSON INTRODUCED YOU TO BLACK METAL, OR METAL OVERALL? I grew up listening to heavy music from siblings and just went my own direction, constantly wanting heavier and darker music forms. Some of the other musicians I have worked with all constantly traded music together and we found black metal. We always were into all types of metal but black metal created a certain bond for what or how we truly felt. WHICH BANDS DO YOU HAVE ADMIRATION FOR IN BLACK METAL? I don’t know if I can truly answer that question. It’s always very disappointing when you meet the individual’s that make up a band that you really like and they turn out to be nothing you expected. I respect bands that hold true in their image as well as their ideas and belief’s, on or off of stage or scene. Some bands I once admired for what they were, I can not admire now for what they have become. I admire certain aspects of bands more than anything else. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ABOUT THE FOLLOWING BANDS? ANCIENT - Catchy clones. DARKTHRONE - Classic early albums, I don’t care much for the new material. LINKIN PARK – Fucking Gay. DEICIDE – After ‘Once upon the cross’ they were done. SLAYER – Amazing early material. I even liked ‘Divine Intervention’. They were once gods. DARK FUNERAL – I’m a fan. Sick blast beats, and hymns to Satan. VENOM – I could care less if they ever existed. Xaphan’s probably their biggest fan though. BATHORY - Truly an inspiration. BURZUM – Dark and Cold black metal. Burzum helped create the reality in Black metal. Hailz! CRADLE OF FILTH – Lots of Iron Maiden influence which is good. Talented band but overrated. WHAT ALBUMS ARE YOU CURRENTLY LISTNENING TO? I haven’t been in the mood lately to buy or explore any new BM bands, so I've been a variety. Current Rotation: Emperor – In the Nightside Eclipse, High on Fire – Surrounded by Thieves, King Diamond – Abigail, The Melvins – Hostile Ambient Takeover, Inquisition – Invoking the majestic throne of Satan, Judas Iscariot – Thy dying light, Bathory – Blood,Fire,Death ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING ANY BOOKS? Yes and no. Some scripting and networking books but nothing worth mentioning. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ABOUT THE SACRIFICE OF THE NAZARENE CHILD FEST IN THE ATMOSPHERE AND DID YOU FIND THE FESTIVAL TO BE SUCCESFUL IN TERMS OF THE PROPAGANDA FOR KULT OV AZAZEL? The fest was great to be part of. If we can do it again, we definatly will. It was a gathering of some of the best USBM bands and truly an honor. We really didn’t get rid of too much merchandise but we weren’t there for that reason, as far as propaganda goes. Fests like this will soon take over the shitty ‘Metal Fests’ that are clearly about ripping bands off and exploiting fake rosters. ANY FINAL WORDS BEFORE ENDING THIS INTERVIEW SESSION?
