Kult ov Azazel hail from the state of Florida in the USA and have risen among the ranks of top USBM acts along with Krieg, Judas Iscariot, and the likes. The band, small yesterday, have become quite a well-known band world-wide today. Despite differences, many hails to Xaphan and KoA for support! Interviewed by Infernal & answered by Xaphan Hails Xaphan, well, this may be old news, but the band was called Azazel at a time and then changed to Kult Ov Azazel. I assume the name change was due to their being other bands by the name Azazel; did any of them come to you about the name and ask for the change? Any legal problems? Yes this is exactly why we made the name change. Only one band came to us and threatened to sue but this is not why we changed the name. We were tired of being confused with others that had used the name either past or present so we changed it. Simple as that! As with all interviews, so unoriginal, but can you give me a brief biography of the band, a few sentences... We formed as a band in April of 1999. The two driving forces from the beginning have always been Xul on bass/vocals and myself on guitar/additional vocals. We've been through a number of different drummers but since our formation but have managed to put out 3 recordings and a few promo tapes. What is the message of the band? Why did you create Kult Ov Azazel? For what purpose do you continue the band? Who do you want to listen to your music and message? I created this band to play a form of music that has always meant something to me. I created Kult ov Azazel out of spite for all the faggot black metal that was coming out. I got sick of hearing bands that were a sorry excuse to the black metal underground and decided it was time to show these homosexuals what black metal is all about! Bring back the pure blasphemy and satanic themes that black metal is all about. As for the message, the message behind our music is hate for humanity, hate for christinaity and satanic philosophy. You are a member of the Church Of Satan. (So right here I can just see all of the NSBM crowd throwing a huge fit that I am allowing you to be in Strong Forever.) Is Xul involved in the CoS as well? What is your involvement in this? Xul is not involved in the CoS. My involvement has nothing to do with this interview. (ed. I hate when people say this, "not involved with the int" - anything can be involved.) Jews are subhuman scum, what do you think of Jews? The way I look at it is this, why narrow down a certain nationality or ethnicity? All humans are worthless pieces of trash that deserve exactly what they have coming to them… death. The only problem with this is that the human race is not dying off soon. (ed. It is true, the human race will not die off soon, so why live in a story? This is reality, and in reality we shall live. You can not kill everyone, so you take away those who ruin life in reality, such as the jews and other human sub-species. Not all humans are bad, I am sure you yourself have friends.) Well, what do you think about Anton LaVey being partly Jewish? Didn't know he was. Niggers are subhuman scum. White niggers are subhuman scum. The list goes on and on, what do you think of these species? Would you consider yourself pro white? Once again fuck mankind! (ed. And again, this is reality) To the release of your latest CD, "Triumph Of Fire." Tell me a little about this release, what is its message? You got a deal with Arctic Music to release it, how did that come about? There's really not much of a message to it. It'd be more correct to say that it reflects our views. The signing with Arctic came about because they liked what we were doing and they weren't afraid of signing us. You had a problem with the distributor refusing to promote your CD because of its message. This is purely gay and pathetic, elaborate on this subject... Yes, apparently the distributor that was originally used had a problem with the lyrics and therefor did not want to print the CDs. Due to the fact they were under contact by the label they had to. And since it's release has refused to promote it in any way and has totally fucked off and not made it available to people. Needless to say we have just recently dropped them as our US distributor and will now be distributed by another. (ed. This is good, it shows you are true to your cause. I bet some bands would stick to this distributor just get fans and money - fuck those bands.) How are things with this release working out for you? Overall I suppose pretty good. It has done much better than we had thought it would here in the States and has received great reviews as well. It was just released in Europe the end of May so I guess only time will tell. Just recently, the Kult Ov Azazel / Krieg split was released on Genocide Music. How did that come about? How is it working out for you, I am sure this is doing rather well? Yeah it was released back in February and is actually doing very well. The first 1000 copies went pretty fast and it's about to be repressed within the next month or so. The split came about basically with me mentioning to Imperial that we'd like to do a split with Krieg. He had recently heard our debut mCD and replied he had been thinking of asking me the same thing. So that's pretty much how it came about, not much of an interesting story really. To me, I am getting a bit angry with the USBM scene these days. Over the course of time, I discovered how things work out. There are a few dominating bands who just go by themselves and are loved by all. No one pays attention to the other bands, only these dominating ones. Even if the dominating one suck, we have to love them because they are "kult" and "grim." This is as absurd as a white girl fucking a nigger. Am I the only one who sees this is or what? I will not name any bands, but hey, why should I care what the other people think anyway? Surely there were compilations for USBM, Zines, etc. but they do not do it all. Tell me your opinion on our "great scene?" Well I think you basically answered your own question with the statement "Why should I care what the other people think anyway?" I don't think the US scene is all that bad. I actually think that it is becoming very strong and there are a lot of good bands in the American scene and on the other hand there are ones that just purely suck. It's like that within every "scene" and what may suck to you may not suck to me. But who the fuck cares? I see it like this; the bands that get looked over are the ones that choose to be not because there is a "dominating" band overshadowing them. Instead of getting off their ass and making a name for themselves they whine about others achievements. What good is this? Only action will achieve results. Kult ov Azazel is where we are today because I am not one to worry what others think and don't sit around on my ass wasting time. I don't fuck around and because of this we have made a good name for ourselves in such a short period of time. But guess what… we are still overlooked by many people but you think I care? Nope! The point being not everyone will know of you and more so than that not everyone will like what you're doing. To actually give a flying fuck about others opinions is what I'd call absurd. (ed. Very true, and one thing I always say is "I don't care about you, your opinion, or what you think." But in this case, it is not opinion - it really is a fact that bands are dominating and getting jerked off, this is without a doubt. Fuck those bands and all of those who are jerking them off. I disagree with what you say, the bands getting overlooked are causing it themselves. It is because of people jerking off other bands and not caring about others.) You basically rose up from nearly nothing, just a few tapes, into a band that is rather wellknown. This is good for a musical band, I hope that you will never loose your message like most of these bands these days. Along the lines of loosing message, what do you think of the whole Black Metal Scene in general these days? To me it is gay. I say death to most of these fucking bands, it really is a waste. Like I just said, I don't fuck around. Kult ov Azazel will never turn into what so many of the bands of the past have become. I'd end the band before I'd let it get that far. This band is about spreading antichristian propaganda and the difference is this - it's not about image. The messages in our lyrics reflect our beliefs and views instead of just written out lyrics for the sake of being "evil". I'd also agree with you on that last statement. The black metal scene nowadays is a cesspool of poseur mallgoths listening to black metal because it's spooky and evil to wear a cradle of filth shirt and to buy music that has been tagged black metal. I think all the old bands that have completely sold themselves out and used black metal to achieve a name from themselves and then turned ultra gay after a few albums should be infected with the AIDS virus. The worst part is that they continue to call the music black metal and the real black metal bands are then seen as people see these fags, as a fucking joke. (ed. Definitely true and I agree 100%.) How about for NSBM? I know most of these NS bands despise Satanic themes in the music and reality due to the jewishness of it. What do you think of this? It seems that everyone just thinks of Satanism in the image of what the see on TV. Well, I actually do not agree with the message of Satanism either, what do you have to say to open people's eyes to what is involves and what it really is? I don't give a fuck whether people like us or not. This is not a priority to me. We are doing this in order to spread misanthropic and antichristian propaganda not to gain friends or approval from others. NSBM bands often say that NSBM is the only real black metal. I do not agree with that, BM started from Satanic roots and it shall stay there. But I am not complaining about NSBM, it is just I think we should call it something different and a different musical genre. In Black Metal, message is the only think that matters, and Satanic/NS/Heathen/Folk/Death/etc. are all totally different things (I suppose with some comparisons) so why should we group them all together? I think Black Metal is only the Satanic/Death approach and NS should be like "NS White Music that sometimes sounds like Black Metal" or something. Even musically, there can be great contrast. There should be a split in the genre, but still, not a total break away from all contacts, supports, etc. Do you agree? Honestly I don't care nor is this something I think about. Bottom line is Black Metal has nothing to do with political views. If you need politics in your life run for office. (Ed. I disagree. Black Metal should deal with anything with hate - even pride has hate, basically the opposite. And with NSBM, its message is important to the existence of our people. If you don't think it belongs in BM, you should start a fad of calling it something else, such as "Heavy music for white people that sounds like Black Metal" like I said. Perhaps you do not see this as you may not be as interested as I and many others are with this. But if you look into reality, again, you could see.) Yes, it is true sometimes I bitch about NSBM, but that seems to be the crowd I fit in with since we share the Pro-White aspects (ATOPBIHSF is not NSBM though.) I support most of these bands and labels. There really is a great unity, but at times, it differs. Anyway, what bands/labels/etc. do you support? I support the ones that support me. (ed. Why support other bands and people if you hate humanity so much?) Ok, back to Kult Ov Azazel. You have a 4 way split coming up, can you tell me a bit about that? Yeah it's a four way split with Obitus, Humanicide and ThyLord. Our portion of the split contains 2 songs from Order of the Fly and 2 songs from the split with Krieg. We basically decided to do it because these bands represent black metal in true form. I also enjoy the music of all the participating bands and found it to be a good opportunity to allow others to hear some of our older material that hadn't already done so. It seems you do not have a drummer now, what happened with the old one? He was very talented and killer at drums, it sucks he departed. He will do drums for the Sacrifice of the Nazarene Child show though right? Why not just keep him with the band then? The drummer we were using was only a session drummer. We are currently without a drummer but will be rehearsing with one in July. So we'll see how it goes but doesn't mean we're still not on the search. His departure really wasn't much of a departure since he was never a full member of the band anyway. As for who'll be drumming with us at the Sacrifice of the Nazarene Child fest who knows? I'm not really concerned with it, I'm hoping by then it's a full fledge member but if not there's a few people I know that will do it. (ed. Do you or Xul take part in any other bands beside the ones listed? I was just recently added as a full member of Hateplow. I will continue to play with them as long as it does not interfere with Kult ov Azazel. As far as participation in any other bands by either of us the answer is no. Well, before I go, a few little questions. If you could take one thing off the earth forever and erase all traces of its existence, what would it be? Second, what do you think of that killer band, ahh, what was the name, Infernal Hatred, that's it! What do you think of them? haha. I would erase religion and all traces of it.
